  • The first step is giving us a call, talking through the conditions of your lot, what type of home and features you need, and letting us give you a rough estimate and timeline to start construction.

  • Keel Custom Homes builds on your lot within 60 miles of the greater Richmond, Virginia region. Building on your lot means our clients own land and trust us to build their dream home on it.

  • Starting with one of our home plans, you can adjust these layouts as you need to fit your life and your style. Such as adding a 3rd garage, a sun room, or an in-law suite! Don’t see a plan you like? Feel free to even bring us your own.

    For selections, we partner with professional trades and material suppliers who have showrooms all over the area. You will design your home by attending appointments in these showrooms that specialize in flooring, cabinet design, fireplaces, countertops, and several more. If our vendors can supply it, it’s available for you to select. There’s nothing you won’t be able to personalize!

  • Once your home plans are finalized, permitted, and all selections are made, it takes about 5-6 months to build depending on house size and location.

  • It’s all about you! When we design your home, we focus on three main categories:

    1 - Floorplans- perfecting these structurally to obtain a building permit

    2 - Exteriors- ensuring your plans meet various ARB guidelines and have stunning curb appeal.

    3- Interiors- where you get the chance to really showcase your personal style.

    Starting with one of our base plans, you will work with Keel’s design team to perfect the floor plan to suit the function and flow you need in your home.

    Next, we combine visiting showrooms staffed with experts and online resources to select flooring, cabinets, and lighting, and others to reflect your personal style.

    Once all design choices are made, you will receive a final cost to build and Keel will do all the heavy lifting of gathering the documents needed to obtain a building permit.

  • No problem, ask us about what lots Keel has available! We own lots in various communities in the area and build spec homes frequently. If we don’t have a lot or a spec home underway that piques your interest, we’ll be sure to connect you with someone who can find you that wonderful piece of property.
